"Put a young man in a wood shop and his hands work to the benefit of his brain, and he becomes a philosopher while thinking himself only a craftsman." -Jean Jacques Rousseau
Innovative service fuels my work as an emerging designer. Utilizing my design skillset to reimagine and conceptualize the things around me, for the people around me. My adolescence was spent rummaging through attics and antique stores, where I found comfort in surrounding myself with objects that withstood the test of time. By prioritizing innovative materials and high performance construction techniques, I foresee that each and every garment I produce will outlive the wearer and continue to serve its purpose for generations. This collection drew inspiration from the craftsmen I work alongside and collaborate with, whose attire primarily functions as a tool. For these makers, a uniform contributes to the success of their projects from storing tools to protecting their skin from harsh chemicals or dangerous machinery.
Workwear allows for the steady rational practice of mastering a craft to become a prolonged mediation, allowing the body to fiddle while the mind wanders. When a craftsman is in tune with their hands and the rhythm of their work is steady, they are left to reflect on their reason for doing; their motive.
