Throughout the Fall 2023 semester, while pursuing my BFA in Sportswear, I participated in a Lifestyle Collection Design course that challenged students to develop a three-look active sportswear capsule. The project centered on a collaboration between an upscale luxury designer and a contemporary activewear brand, with a particular focus on the properties and applications of knitwear.
The stereotype of a surfer is often rooted in visual imagery — defined by a carefree lifestyle and a mindset shaped by a deep connection to nature. Growing up along the coast of Florida, I have long admired surfers for their laid-back attitude, genuine appreciation for life, and awareness of the environment. I saw a unique opportunity to merge this ethos with the thoughtfulness and patience of luxury fashion design, creating a product for a consumer who values attention to detail, resourcefulness in material use, and the longevity inherent to luxury craftsmanship. With both brands’ expertise in luxury fashion and active performance wear, the resulting garments offer exceptional durability, designed to withstand the test of time while maintaining their quality and value.
